Rabbit

The rabbit is a mammal and belong to the order of lagomorphs. The rabbit is frequently kept as pets. The hind legs of the rabbit are relatively much shorter than that of the hare. The belly is much lighter in color than the back, mostly white. The underside of the tail and the legs are also white. The rabbit lives only of plant foods. The rabbit eats also his own droppings. A “nurse”or “nut” is a female rabbit. These are in addition to the differences in genitalia of male rabbits (rattles) to distinguish because their body is longer and they have a less coarse head.

By young rabbits is this distinction difficult to see. The nurse is generally quieter than a ram, except when she is pregnant, then even the most loving rabbit fierce bite and loss.

The “rattle” or “ram” is the male rabbit. These are temperament fuller than the nurses. The rattle is usually thicker and heavier and has a wider head. The nurses are usually a little stubborn and when they just have a young, pretty aggressive. If you want to pick or stroke her you can better first let her smell so she they can recognize you. The rabbit is in a fairly large number farmed domesticated. In the domesticated forms, there will according to the Dutch standard distinguish different varieties.

The rabbit was domesticated in Roman times. First the animals kept for meat and fur, later as pets. The Romans kept6 the rabbit in parks with high walls, called leporaria. Besides adults also ate newborn rabbits, which were considered a delicacy. In medieval monasteries was the First made mention of color mutations. Until in the middle of the nineteenth century as hobby animals kept rabbits, rabbits with special exhibitions were held. After the Second World War was a popular pet rabbit.
