Goose

All geese are descendants of the Greylag Goose. Its pale yellow or orange-red beak is of average length and tapered. It has a long neck and its back is a brownish grey whilst the underside of the body is a yellowish grey. Feathers on the belly and under the tail are white. The rest of the feathers on the upper side are a pale grey.

Pen feathers on the wings and tail are charcoal grey with white edges and tips. The iris is light brown and the legs are a pale salmon pink. Total body length is 98 cm. wingspan is 170 cm., length of one wing is 47 cm. and the length of the tail is 16 cm.

Habits
The Greylag Goose is distributed from northern Europe to the far northeast of Asia. From time to time, it breeds in northern and central Germany and then migrates in formation to the south. The Greylag Goose inhabits large swamps, lakes and ponds surrounded by reeds or scrub. It feeds on all kinds of grain, oats, clover and young seeds.
